Popular Programs

Politics and International Relations

Consistently ranked in the global top 20 for this field (QS 2024), ANU benefits from its strategic location in Canberra, providing students with direct access to internships and research placements in government departments, think tanks, and international organisations like the UN and DFAT.

Economics

One of Australia’s most research-intensive economics programs, with strong networks including Nobel laureates and international policy experts. The curriculum emphasizes microeconometrics, development economics, and Asia-Pacific market analysis. Graduates often enter the Treasury, World Bank, or top consultancy firms.

Law

As one of the most prestigious law schools within the Group of Eight, ANU Law focuses on comparative and public-interest law. Located close to the High Court and Parliament House, students benefit from real-world exposure, mock trials, and pathways into public service, international law, and policy.

Environmental Science and Climate Policy

The ANU College of Science leads globally in climate modelling and environmental policy. Courses are often delivered in collaboration with CSIRO and involve applied fieldwork and policy simulations focused on sustainability and ecological resilience.

Philosophy and the Humanities

Among the strongest philosophy programs in the Southern Hemisphere, with particular distinction in ethics and political philosophy. ANU houses the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics (CAPPE) and maintains active collaborations with international scholars.
