Popular Programs

Marine and Environmental Science

UWA is internationally recognized for its excellence in marine science and environmental studies, ranked within the global top 100 for natural sciences (QS 2024). Located on the Indian Ocean coast, UWA leverages nearby marine protected areas for extensive field research focused on coral reef ecosystems and marine biodiversity. Its research centers collaborate closely with the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), offering students rich opportunities for hands-on learning and scientific investigation.

Medicine and Health Sciences

The Faculty of Medicine at UWA emphasizes clinical medicine and public health, with a strong focus on Indigenous health and health equity. Graduates commonly work in major Perth hospitals and government health departments. The medical school is equipped with a state-of-the-art simulation centre that integrates theory and practice, preparing students to deliver community-centered healthcare.

Engineering (Mining, Civil and Chemical)

As the core institution supporting Western Australia’s resource sector, UWA’s engineering faculty is internationally renowned in mining engineering. The curriculum covers mining technology, sustainable resource management, and environmental impact, with students gaining industry experience through collaborations with leading companies such as BHP and Rio Tinto. Civil and chemical engineering programs are also closely aligned with regional infrastructure and industrial demands.

Law

UWA Law School specializes in environmental law, Indigenous rights, and commercial law, emphasizing interdisciplinary legal practice. Students engage in practical learning through moot courts and legal clinics, enhancing real-world skills. The faculty maintains strong partnerships with the Western Australian government and non-profit organizations to provide insights into the role of law in social governance.
